Conflict management approaches for addressing behavior disorder students represents an even more fragile equation inasmuch as an inappropriate approach can inadvertently instigate an undesirable and even violent response. In fact, because the manner by which special education students are disciplined is potentially damaging to an already mentally challenged individual that IDEA 97 has laid the legal ground rules for what methods can and cannot be applied.
