Educational Alternatives for Poverty-Stricken Children

Number of Pages 5

More than a decade ago, charter schools were initiative through a Congressional Act. These schools are intended to provide an alternative for families, primarily low-income families but they do include others. This paper discusses the impact of charter schools and suggests these schools may counter what MacLeod discussed in his book, Ain't No Makin' It: Aspirations and Attainment in Low-Income Neighborhoods. There are four sources listed in the bibliography of this five page paper.
